🌿 The Good Shepherd: Finding What Is Still Good

May brings flowers.

It brings color, warmth, and the quiet reminder that winter does not last forever. There is something about this season that feels good.

And yet, when we look at the world around us, “good” can feel harder to find.

We see conflict, confusion, and constant noise. We hear stories that leave us asking:

Is there anything good left?

Jesus answered that question clearly.

“I am the good shepherd.” — John 10:11

He did not say He was a shepherd. He said He is the Good Shepherd.

🐑 What Makes the Shepherd Good?

The Good Shepherd is not distant.

He gives His life for the sheep. He knows them by name.He is not a thief or a stranger. He does not come to take, but to care.

He protects.He leads.He stays near.

In a world where so much feels uncertain, the goodness of the Shepherd does not change.

🔊 The Question of Voice

There is a lot of noise in our world.

Many voices compete for our attention—telling us where to go, what to do, and how to live.

Phillip Keller writes that sheep will not respond to a stranger’s voice, even if the words sound the same. They recognize the voice of their shepherd.

This raises a quiet question for us:

Are we responding to familiar truth…or to voices that only sound convincing?

The Good Shepherd is not silent.

Even in the noise, He is calling.

🔥 Moving When He Moves

When the children of Israel journeyed through the wilderness, they did not move on their own timing. They followed the presence of God—by cloud in the day and fire at night.

They moved when He moved.

They stayed when He stayed.

There is a rhythm to following.

It is not rushed. It is not forced. It is led.

🌿 A Gentle Reflection

Take a moment and ask yourself:

Am I waiting to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd…or am I moving ahead on my own?

There is no pressure in this question.

Only an invitation.

🕊️ Closing

Good may feel hard to find in the world.

But the Good Shepherd has not changed.

He is still calling.Still leading.Still watching over His own.

You are not left to figure life out on your own.

You can listen. You can follow. You can move when He moves.

🌿 Welcome

If this is your first time here, welcome.

You are invited to take your time, explore, and sit with Psalm 23 in a way that is calm and unhurried.

If you would like to continue this journey, you can receive gentle reflections and encouragement as you walk through this space.

There is no rush.

Only room to grow.

Shelter in the Shepherd,

Dr. Beverly Lewis
